Warlords put up a site (General news) -- by yPArAH
The official site of Warlords IV is open. There you can find 12 new screenshots and three wallpapers (all this is also available our gallery). Alas, nothing is said about the possible release date...
Some updates (Site news) -- by yPArAH
Sorry for the low news rate - yurg is seriously ill, while I recently had some I-net troubles. Anyhow, here are the gallery updates: hungarian comrades published several wallpapers and screens from Haegemonia and Platoon. We grabbed both. Some shots from Age of Mythology - desert lanscapes, coming up. And - last, but not least - the weekly screenshot from Sea Dogs 2, both in our gallery and on the official site of the project.

Soliers in the gallery (Site news) -- by yPArAH
Yep. Gallery update - five shots from Soldiers of Anarchy (heh-heh). Neat explosions and such.
Heroes in stores (HOMM4) -- by yPArAH
The first copies of Heroes IV: The Gathering Storm were sold today in USA. No news considering Europe on the point... It's still a shrouded mistery. All we know is NWC working on the second add-on (expected by March 2003) and on Heroes V concept.
SimCity delayed (General news) -- by yPArAH
According to the official sources, SimCity 4 release is postponed till January 2003. Cause? Tweaking. Tinkering. Toying. All for the betterment of gameplay, as usual.

A sequel to Real War was made, several screenshots were released. We got 9. Take a look.
Contest (Age of Mythology) -- by yPArAH
Finally, something apart from screenshots! Age of Mythology developers have made up a contest, "Be-the-damn-first-to-sign-up-for-a-preview-version-of-Age-of-Mythology - 2002". The signup forms will be put up on 13 gaming sites (love this number!), 50 more lucky people will be selected through signup on the Ensemble Studios site.
This all is going to occur anytime soon. If you need details, read them here.

New beta with the new music (LSN) -- by yPArAH
Laser Squad Nemesis creators made up a new beta of the game, Spawn included. The in-game sound was changed as well. Do you know the Tomb Raider composer, Nathan McCree? He'll be composing songs for LSN from now on. Feel free to say "Hooray".
Gallery updates (Site news) -- by yPArAH
Updates, updates, coming through! Five shots from Age of Mythology and four from Highland Warriors. Enjoy!
Monsters weekly (Dreamland) -- by yPArAH
Here are some of the UFO: Aftermath critters – the developers started sending out renders. They are going to present them in “1 creature per week” packages. You’ll surely find them all in our gallery.
One last thing. Happy birthday to me. Even though it was two days ago.
Anyone up for a big dowload? (General news) -- by yPArAH
The Frontline Attack (previously known as Panzer Claws) wargame demo is in the Net... ONLY 326 Megabytes. If you have nothing to spend your traffic on, that’s the ticket! Go here and get it.
A chat with the developers (Dreamland) -- by yPArAH
The chat log, where UFO: Aftermath developers can be spotted, is published. As you alredy know (from us), ALTAR Interactive switched to another publisher (that’s no longer Virgin). The assignee… It can be one certain British publisher, but the name is kept a secret.
Oh, yeah, point of interest. Something about the UFO arsenal – it will, according to the developers, include the mega-popular OICW system. Yum-yum!
Å5 v4.14 is ready (General news) -- by yPArAH
The creators of Å5 are rubber-stamping new versions with ever-increasing speed. The newest version has the number 4.14. The patch can be downloaded here.
Before establishing an orbit (General news) -- by yPArAH
O.R.B. is to be released anytime soon. But! Strategy First is quick to send us the last portion of shots, as well as several box renders. You’ll at least know what to look for.
Violet chick by the name of Nova (General news) -- by yPArAH
If you care to know, “No va” in Spanish means no less then “Does not move”. What I mean to say is Blizzard’s little “surprise” was all show and no go. Few people held any doubts that the counter image was a Terran Ghost. The blue flickering was not a tough nut to crack – it were encoded transmissions. Ghost remarks, that’s right.
I recall a situation a year ago, when one of the artists mentioned something about his company working on some such project, and even posted up several screenshots (his page was closed soon after the company’s reaction. Yep, we wrote about it.
So, behold the new creation of Blizzard, StarCraft: Ghost - 3d shooter, kinda “tactical”. To all people who expected a sequel (like me): you know where to stick your expectations :(
Meanwhile we will be acting as a Ghost named Nova. The first (and, most likely, last – for our site) screens can be found in the dedicated gallery.
The game is being developed by Nihilistic Softwar (creators of Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption). Developed solely for consoles. Well, so long, Blizzard, we’re writing about your Nova for the first and the last time.

Screenshots... :-E (HOMM4) -- by yPArAH
Man, am I bored. Gathering Storm is out gold, and because of that the net is overwhelmed by different screenshots from it. As usual, here are the best ones.
Alpha readiness (General news) -- by yPArAH
C&C Generals developers say the game has finally reached the alpha stage. An open test is expected, at least that’s what they are planning to do.
10 hours and counting – a look into the StarCraft future (General news) -- by yPArAH
As it was said by Bill Roper, the company Blizzard is not currently developing StarCraft 2, yet is thinking about it. At least that’s what he said in an interview to Computer Games. But there’s no need to sit and wait ( that’s my usual suggestion)!
A countdown to the announcement of a new project is started at the Blizzard official site. Tomorrow, at 12:00 PM MSC (or about 10:00 AM USA, if I got it right) it will happen.
yurg ahs an interesting view on the point – he thinks Blizzard folks will try to make some kind of an FPS based on Star Craft (with Terran Ghost as the main hero, hiding in the darkness, kicking the sins outta Zergs and such). Such a viewpoint makes sense when looking at the slowly revealing picture.
Mmm-kay, that means we have to wait anyhow. But not much.
How 'bout an editor? (Patches) -- by yPArAH
Yeah, here’s a new patch for Heroes 4. It’s number is 2.1 and it can be downloaded from the 3DO FTP server (300 kilos only). It includes the updated map editor.

What's up...or down...with the server? (Dreamland) -- by yPArAH
Something very strange is happening with the UFO: Aftermath official site. It's been two days from the point when the site did not respond for the first time. But the developers' official page is up and working fine. What's that - a global redesign?
Cultures are alive - all of them (General news) -- by yPArAH
As our readers might recall, the original Cultures 2 (and not only them) developers experienced some terrible nuisances, so that the company collapsed... As it turns out, it did not!
The refreshed team managed to cope, and, united under a new name (Funatics Software), has released a whole 11 screenshots from Cultures 3, which we are proud to show you.
What's MoO? (General news) -- by yPArAH
According to the info acquired from one of the forums devoted to Master of Orion III, the expected space strategy, the game is about to come out around the end of November (hey!) this year.
Mmm-kay, we'll wait. What else can we do?
Etherlords 2 now have a site (General news) -- by yPArAH
The Etherlords 2 official site is open to public. If you're interested in card games (MtG-style, that is), do please take a look. You're going to enjoy it.

E5 patch. Again. (Patches) -- by yPArAH
The Å5 project was patched for the 4.13 time, making sure certain bugs won't appear in the game again. Want a) the fixes list and b) the patch itself? Don't hesitate, it's all here.
What's Gold? (JA2UB) -- by yPArAH
As our readers might know, we managed to get ourselves a copy of Jagged Alliance 2: Gold. Thus, we received quite a large number of letters stating the same simple question: "What kind of a game is that?". Looks like the time has come to do some explanation...
JA2 Gold - this is, in fact, two games on two disks in one box. That makes JA2 to upgraded to v1.10 (sorry, no fix list available). The "Taming Turns" was replaced by the "Tough Guy" (or "Strong will" - I don know how it is called in English, honestly) first seen in UB. Alas, no weapons have been transferred from UB (at least we didn't find any - most likely, we won't, due to their absence). Yet, the ÀÐ counting system, as well as weapon damages, have been fixed. Plus, ÕÐ compatibility issues were solved.
What about UB? Have not review it yet. It will be the topic of the next report (a short one, really - the games didn't change tremendously!).
Time to pay a visit to the zoo (HOMM4) -- by yPArAH
A HOMM4 add-on, Heroes IV: The Gathering Strom has gone gold recently, but the exact release date is not yet known.
Mmm, anyway, the first of the four new monsters was shown in the Net. Cool model, in a manner of speaking...
(16 September 2002)
No more free lunches (Age of Mythology) -- by yPArAH
That's it - no more free Age of Mythology alpha playing. The testing is closed, and the developers are proud to say the game is "nearly ready". Thus, the game is to be released "soon". To not die of boredom while waiting, visit our gallery for some new screenshots.
(15 September 2002)
Earthlings plus spacescapes plus pirates (Site news) -- by yPArAH
Yet another ambitious strategical project, Impossible Creatures, is showing off it's screenshots with the horrible monsters. Strategy First is quick to send us another selection of O.R.B. screens. And also - something from Akella - a fresh Sea Dogs 2 fighting scene. Enjoy!
No more MicroProse (General news) -- by yPArAH
The new gaming industry behemoth, Infogrames, affirmed the closing of MicroProse. Now it's understandable why the company gave all the rights for X-Com to Firaxis. Thus, all the company's ÐÑ games will be now sold under the Atari brand. And with the fall of MicroProse our dreams of X-Com Genesis and X-Com Alliance resurrection can as well be buried.
A bonus pack for Emperor: RotMK (General news) -- by yPArAH
Recently, it has become trendy to supply pre-sold games with bonus-disks and all sorts of that pretty stuff. But honestly! We did not expect this to happen to a very specific, city building economic strategy. OK, I'll make it short. Like Emperor: Rise of The Middle Kingdom? Excellent! Go there and feel free to download some that bonus-pack (half a hundred megs).
Patch spotted (Patches) -- by yPArAH
3DO has recently released a network (multiplayer, if you want) patch (2.0) for Heroes IV. It can be downloaded from the official server. Note: to update your v1.0 to v2.0 you'll have to download 16.1 megs, but if you are lucky to have v1.3, you load decreases two-fold.
Chat. Soon. (Dreamland) -- by yPArAH
UFO: Aftermath developers are planning to conduct a chat with all those willing to chat and discuss their creative plans. Jump to this fansite for details.

Strategies for sale! (General news) -- by yPArAH
Today two strategies simultaneously outtraveled the sales - the economical Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom and the futuristic RTS Earth 2150: Lost Soul from Strategy First.
Yesterday our server was down due to technical troubles. Sorry for any inconvenience. Not my fault, really - I was at home drinking tea, I swear!
Pics from around the world (Site news) -- by yPArAH
Updates to our gallery, right! Something from Gladiators, a few from Black & White 2 (the first screenshots from the sequel of a popular game, a strategy-to-be) and a new batch of shots from O.R.B. (soon to enter the sales).
Sayonara to Interplay? (General news) -- by yPArAH
That's it. Brian Fargo, founder of Interplay, sold his last shares of stock of his creation. there is nothing that connects him to his old company, except for the past.
And we remember him saying "I'll be back" Arnie-style half a year ago, when leaving his CEO post. Well, tempora mutantur, so do peoples' thoughts. The (some bad epithet) Frenchmen are now the only proud owners of the company, shares of which are already banned from the stock market. I still wonder, whether the sales of IWD2 will help the company regain it's previous strength or not? Rather not, especially when mentioning the fact all the reviewers, still under the impression of full-3D NWN, gave the game about 6 points total (out of 10).
Perimeter: The first story (General news) -- by yPArAH
The one and only Perimeter resource is once again updated. Right guess, with a full-fledged literary work, the story of which takes place in the game's universe. Something like a precedent, which you can revel in.
Ah, yes, it's a good idea to view a little prehistory beforehand...
(10 September 2002)
An announcement? (General news) -- by yPArAH
Blizzard is ready to announce a new game by September 20, during Tokyo Game Show. Do please note this is a console exhibition mostly, so this leads us to belief the company is about to leave the PC game market (I don' think it's all for the better...). Anyway, no details before the official announcement (not because it's prohibited - we just happen to know nothing). We expect it to be a cross-platform game. Which one? It can be virtually any game!! Yep, with Star Craft 2 and an add-on to War Craft III among other possibilities. In any case, there won't be any more lapses, like one with World of War Craft, when the announcement press release was sent to the journalists the day BEFORE the official announcement!
So let's just wait till my birthday...
In the Midway (Site news) -- by yPArAH
We managed to lay our hands on 7 new screenshots from Midway, the upcoming marine strategy. The whole gallery can be found here (by the way, there you can also find the very first shots of aviation in action).

Some pics for a start? (Site news) -- by yPArAH
take a peek in our gallery to witness the arrival of several Rise of the Nation (that's a strategy) shots.
Enraged Blizzard (Patches) -- by yPArAH
Finally - something of interest!
To quote Blizzard, a new WarCraft III patch, which will allow Battle.net users to communicate in their native languages, was released. But that's not all and not the main point. Here's the Big One: 20.000 (!) more accounts were closed for using map-hack, with the account CD-keys banned for two weeks. One more violation and no future for these keys' users (throwing the game into the dustbin included).
That's good news. Hate cheaters.
Yet another version of E5 (General news) -- by yPArAH
Fresh from the Net and new to your system - v4.11) Å5 project is ready for downloading. Bugfixes and such... No big deal.
New edition? (Rumors) -- by yPArAH
According to the rumors that currently roam the Net (God I love and simultaneously hate this expression!), Infogrames is planning to release Civilization III: Game of the Year Edition ("2 in 1" or Golden Edition or something like that, we know that) by the end of the year. It will be based on the latest ÅÕÅ complete with new maps, a new intro and a new strategy guide.
Heaven knows why I find all current news so bo-o-o-oring...
The usual: screens&movies (Site news) -- by yPArAH
Strategy First folk sent us a link to a brand-new O.R.B. movie. According to the developers, it shows some gameplay moments not seen before. The link itself, as well as 10 news screenshots can be found in our O.R.B. gallery.
Want something else from space. No problem! Here are some new Haegemonia screens for your viewing pleasure.
Interesting info (General news) -- by yPArAH
As we got to know (a big dark secret, heh), Gathering Storm will have some interesting features... (Umm, yeah, I know such a beginning is waaaay too generic...) Like moving heroes across campaigns, meaning a whole different approach to the game.
Will add more later.
(7 September 2002)
Anybody interested in some Hexogen... err, Hexogon? (General news) -- by yPArAH
Not so long ago we received an exclusive selection of screenshots from the Nexagon tactical project from Strategy First, but recently I've been too damn lazy to report that. Anyhow, here they are, in our gallery.

Along with a new chapter of the Age of Mythology DDiaries a couple of screenshots appeared in the Net.
Thanks Sysop it's something more than just screenshots this time. One more word "screenshots" and I go crazy (to understand me, read from the bottom of the page).
Demo version of an empire (General news) -- by yPArAH
While Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom disks are in printing, the developers a quick to release a demo of the game (only 127 Megs, cheap and tasty). If you don't remember, the game itself is an economic strategy set in the Ancient China. But this does not intentionally mean only building castles, raising rice and making the first versions of paper, but also fighting China style.
Does it sound at least a bit interesting? Frankly, I doubt that. Anyhow, pay a visit to our gallery to find a new batch of shots on the topic.
A heavy clip (nah, not from a machinegun) (Haegemonia) -- by yPArAH
Haegemonia official site experienced a major update. It is a heavy gameplay clip. Even after DivXing it still weights much, making up a 36 megs AVI load. Interested in such a monster? Seek the link in our gallery.
An empire in the gallery (Empire Earth) -- by yPArAH
As you probably know, the beta testing of Empire Earth: Art of Conquest is currently in progress. So what? So nothing. Just a dozen o'shots in our gallery. I had to find a plausible cause.

First render from Crusaders (Warrior Kings) -- by yPArAH
Since the first piece of news about Crusaders: Battle for Outremer we could only construct guesses about the upcoming game. It was known the game would be based on a modified Warrior Kings engine. Well, now situation cleared up a bit with the appearance of the first game render, which you can find right here.
Strategy updates (Site news) -- by yPArAH
Uh-huh, it's all about the gallery. A few new shots from Haegemonia. Some from Robin Hood from Wanadoo, some from Empire's Warrior Kings: Battles.
Pretty plain, huh?
X-COM from Firaxis? (Rumors) -- by yPArAH
Our loyal readers might remember a rumor we mentioned half a year ago (or so). About Firaxis buying the rights for the X-Com brand. Back then the rumor was officially denied by Firaxis, yet... In a Game Spy interview Sid Meyer affirmed the company acquiring the rights for Silent Service, Red Storm Rising, Covert Ops AND X-Com. This was later approved by Julian Gallup on the LSN forums. While talking about the situation with Firaxis, he quoted Bob Welch on the topic.
By the way, Firaxis now has at it's disposal a 3D engine - Render Ware.
Perimeter movie (General news) -- by yPArAH
OK, we promised you a movie from a different game, but it is not yet ready. Enjoy a Perimeter one, OK? Here, take it.

Demo proved to be damaged (Site news) -- by yPArAH
All I can say is "Ups, sorry". Your reports were correct, folks - the demo was badly damaged and thus non-installable. Oh, well. Not our fault anyway.
Bad thing is there's nothing we can do apart from waiting for a newer version...
News from the Perimeter (General news) -- by yPArAH
The intergalactic "Perimeter" info source was once again updated with 8 new screens from the upcoming game. The public is this time presented with several views of the interface (for the first time), as well as some more buildings and units (as usual). Err, behold.
