Druids&Co (General news) -- by yPArAH
Russobit-M continues it's advertising campaign dedicated to Celtic Kings: Rage of War and Cultures 2. There are a lot of Celtic Kings screenshots floating around, but here's something original. Two axe-slingers are fine for cheering someone up during this rainy Moscow day.
Now something from Cultures 2 for a change, shall we?
As usual, you can find all the necessary info at Russobit-M's HQ (here & there).
Mmm, yes, just one more thing. If you are particularly attracted to videos, here's a clip from Celtic Kings, accessible through one French site, here.
Empire of mages is near (General news) -- by yPArAH
The obviously coolest piece of Monday news is the announce of Empire of Magic, a turn-based strategy being developed by a Slovak team Mayhem Studios. Somewhat similar to Master of Magic, the game will (most likely) come out during September of this year.
Three first screenshots below, the remaining 6 can be found at BonusWeb.

Another interview (Dreamland) -- by yPArAH
New interview on UFO: Aftermath has seen the light on the pages of Wargamer.
Tech tree this time. 60 technologies in different science branches planned. Some will only become available with certain stuff captured (parts of downed UFO's, hostage aliens, etc).
Downed UFOs can crash land in the cities, forests, deserts and other pleasant locations. Cities, out of necessity, will be full of debris, destroyed buildings, car wrecks and such. Batlle tactics will, of course, differ from terrain to terrain.
The game will have three difficulty settings, which will determine the general alien agression level and game length. On the top difficulty the game will last from 60 to 80 hours.
Hope that helps...

Site update (General news) -- by yPArAH
Site of the recently released Original War (courtesy of ALTAR Interactive, now working on UFO: Aftermath) was also updated. yurg strongly recommends paying it a visit, for it's "the most interesting, funny and informative site among other official game sites" (quote end). And the update? Developers' diary and several mp3s this time.

First interface (Age of Mythology) -- by yPArAH
This is not a simple weekly Age of Mythology shot. No, sir - it's the first version of the game with visible interface elements. Look it over - after ÍÎÌÌ 4 this may be the most interesting RTS project, to some extent.
Green diary (General news) -- by yPArAH
The first Delta Green developers' diary appeared on the pages of Game Spy. Most important piece of it? First playable mission will be shown on Å3. The rest is the general riffraff about shadows, SFX and all other cool features of the game. We expect to hear more about the project by the end of may.

No movies? (Dreamland) -- by yPArAH
Official UFO: Aftermath forum is lousy with developers' comments. According to one of them, only one feature from the original Dreamland design document remained intact - mission clip recording (for purpose of later reviewing as a tactical supporting material). Still, the developers hold serious doubts if this feature will actually make it into the game.

Tips from officials (LSN) -- by yPArAH
All Laser Squad Nemesis players could harbour some interest for a certain site. A site about the LSN tactics. Sounds like a basic survival kit for the newbies to me, yet fans are paying much attention to that project.

No longer a strategy (General news) -- by yPArAH
Last fall we published an artical about the fate of a strategical project Warhammer Online. Later it turned into an RPG. Eurogamer even made an interview on the topic, accompanied by a picture gallery. Recalling the times of the Shadow of the Hornet Rat and Dark Omen, we can only mourn the loss of this necer-a-strategy...

Another short interview on UFO: Aftermath can be found on the pages of Lonegamers.com. Refinement, as usual. Engine specialities: battle system (somewhat similar to that of LSN) and an ability to generate tactical missions. See the forum of that server for more details. We stubled upon such facts as the avaliability of M4 and AK47 in the game, as well as... *drumroll* no M-16! AT LAST!

Staff cutbacks, right (HOMM4) -- by yPArAH
Firings in NWC were officially confirmed by Christian Vanover. He said a group of talented people has really left the company, yet we do not have to worry, for the company is still one big family. Yet, NWC will be developing only one game at the same time.
Just like the old days.
Bad outcome (FO 3) -- by yPArAH
Mmm-kay... here's the history of Fallout Fantasy developement. You can imagine the outcry generated by the rumor the project will be console-targeted. Fans and several journalists were outraged. The outcome was all but interesting - the famous DAC newsmaker, Killian, was fired by Gamespy, while the lead newsmaker informed the readers about the temporary service freezing.
My judgement you want? The world is getting crappier... Remember OCP - Oppressive Capitalistic Pigs (©Robocop 3)

Staff cuts? (HOMM4) -- by yPArAH
Breaking news came during the weekend from Actiontrip. According to their unnamed source, 3DO made serious cutbacks by firing about 2/3 of the ÌÌ9 development team AND several ÍÎÌÌ 4 managers. Other NWC to move to the San-Fran offices at their own expense. None of the info is proved, but if it's true... We won't be hearing about ÍÎÌÌ 4 patches for a long time...

New picture from Sea Dogs 2! Hot'n spicy! Viewing recommended!
Fallout Fantasy! Drat... (FO 3) -- by yPArAH
About the yesterday's sensation, Fallout Fantasy... That's not Fallout 3 (thank Godness!), it's just a mere console game (YUCK!!!) being developed by Digital Mayhem. Uh-huh, the people behind Dark Alliance. What will the project look like? Unknown, but I hold one idea for certain - apart from having the word Fallout in the title and Power Armor in the gameplay, it will be NOT Fallout. Action. Arcade. "With RPG elements". Five words above are the facts, not assumptions.
Oh well. There goes IPLY index... There goes Interplay's reputation... There goes...?
More war paintings (Sudden Strike 2) -- by yPArAH
Official Sudden Strike 2 site was reinforced with 5 srkling-new shots (depicting similar game moments). Here's an example, the rest you can view there.
Round the Perimeter (General news) -- by yPArAH
The first unofficial intergalactic "Perimeter" resouce informed us about it's existence. As you might remember, the game is being developed by a Kaliningrad company K-D LAB - www.kdalb.com. The mentioned above resource vigilantly watches all the project developements.
There you can gem some very exclusive matherials: gameplay clips, music and wallpapers (as usual). Expected: developers' diaries.
Go, see, feel, understand.

Fantasy Fallout? (FO 3) -- by yPArAH
Some rumors about some Fallout Fantasy made it to my working desk. Fallout 3? Some other project? Unknown. It is said that the project will be announced during the next Å3 by Interplay. I do not buy it, but we must accept the possibility of that. The due date is what confuses me. September 2002. If anything like this exits, it must really be from the Fallout universe. An arcade game, perhaps?
I know, I know, I'm way behind the schedule of news updating. Mercy, people - it is damn difficult to even get out of bed during severe illness.
Warlord patchwork (Patches) -- by yPArAH
Official patch for Warlords Battlecry II, people. Get it form the official site.

Strategy/tactics (Dreamland) -- by yPArAH
More or less boring (for me): yet another interview about UFO: Aftermath. This time ALTAR PR told commoners about some interesting facts from the game. Four weapon classes for humans: rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers and shotguns, more then 40 items total. Aliens, you guessed, will have their own weapons, including biological and psionic ones.
As an addition, the lead designer told something about the game tactics. According to him, authomatic UFO interception will not imply the linear structure of the game. A successful interception will generate a mission. Missions will vary - from recovering a downed UFO and countering an assault to breaking through enemy lines and defending the base. Basically, the strategy of the game will be choosing the "correct" missions to maintain and increase your presence in the region.
New patch expected (LSN) -- by yPArAH
Attention, LSN players - 1.07 patch is about to appear. Most likely the game will work under DX8.1, which will improve it's video functions.
Shots avalanche (Haegemonia) -- by yPArAH
The site of Haegemonia was overwhelmed with screenshots recently (and here they are). Just to remind you - this space strategy from Digital Reality is due this summer.
There will be a successor (HOMM4) -- by yPArAH
The possibility of an add-on to Heroes is not denied in the interview given to Game Spot. As a matter of a fact, Jeff Blattner first said that in our interview. That's just a confirmation.
Old yPArAH had a farm... (Age of Mythology) -- by yPArAH
Another screenshot from Age of Mythology shows us a wide variety of animals, including some glowing pigs(?). Have a look, will you:
Net patch due soon (HOMM4) -- by yPArAH
Rumors about the HOMM IV net patch are confirmed. It's due next week. At least that's what 3DO says.
Interception (Dreamland) -- by yPArAH
Another interesting message from the ALTAR official forum. UFO interception will be possible in UFO: Aftermath, yet it will be simplified a la X-Com. That's, practically, it.
(5 April 2002)
Need a wallpaper? (Age of Mythology) -- by yPArAH
Just a neat wallpeper from the Age of Mythology official site.
New interview. Extremely new (Haegemonia) -- by yPArAH
We found another interview on Haegemonia, a space strategy from Digital Reality. All mentioned there was said before, 'xcept one thing - the game will be finished by May. Thta could mean a beta and a public demo. And another - more ships could possibly be introduced into the game by means of Net, if the publisher likes the idea.
Need details? (Dreamland) -- by yPArAH
On the UFO: Aftermath forum Martin Klima left several messages worth knowing:
- some alien devices won't be usable by humans, others could be modified and thus will be;
- some fighters will have the ambidextrious trait and will be able to fire two different weapons simultaneously (will require a specila skill or a high level of Agility);
- no fire when on march;
- save whenever you feel like to;
- conventional terran wepons will be of unlimited supply, but not all models will be available from the beginning;
- converted alien wepons are to be invented and manufactured. After that the situation with them will be similar to the conventional weapons;
- real alien weapons can be only salvaged during operations and cannot be reproduced.
Another demo (General news) -- by yPArAH
An Army Men: RTS demo was blasted into world. Cand be downloaded from the 3DO site. Hmm, didn't it already appear in the stores?
Brand new seascapes (Privateer) -- by yPArAH
Àêåëëà updated the Privateer marine strategy site with six new screenshots. We got some samples - see below. The rest are in their gallery.

What is AFD? (Site news) -- by yPArAH
AFD stands for April Fool's Day, people. The particular piece of news about Ferg was a J-O-K-E. So stop sending me maiil saying "You might have been fooled, yP" or "Does that mean we will never get FO3?", OK?
It was I who made this particular joke. Sorry. No offence meant, Ferg.
P.S. Try it out yourself. Could be fun (©Killian Darkwater).
A sea dog (Sea Dogs 2) -- by yPArAH
Official Sea Dogs 2 site now has even more screenshots at it's disposal. Tropical island beauty this time. Worth waiting a little extra, right?
Going into details (Dreamland) -- by yPArAH
Here's a big interview about UFO: Aftermath. Here are some interesting moments.
First: developers confirmed the rumor, that all the campaign missions will be generated randomly, not pre-defined.
Second: editor will appear in the I-net a little bit later as a separate file.
Third: confirmed - no multiplayer.
Fourth: main game idea is territory domination (that's X-Com, suprise, suprise).
Fifth: destroyable terrains will be available, but you won't be able to play TOTAL DESTRUCTION WOW!!! Tough luck.
Hope that helps.
Elefants are cool (Age of Mythology) -- by yPArAH
One pic from the Age of Mythology. Looks like a battle between elefants. Hmm... I myself prefer something with more punch. A rail tank, maybe... Well, anyway:
Incredible creatures (General news) -- by yPArAH
Relic got us all a present for the AFD - some art and screenshots. Like presents? Get yours here! No examples this time - their server is fast and their selection is vast. OK?
What the... (General news) -- by yPArAH
Uh... People... Maybe you should have a look at this. I can say only one thing - I had my own distrusts with Feargus, but such an abruptness I could not even imagine.
E-mail me if you have more info!
LSN or X-COM? (LSN) -- by yPArAH
As you know, Laser Squad Nemesis was updated by means of patch 1.06. I mentioned the changing of the interface...
See the changes yourself. Looks pretty neat, innit? The color palette of the first X-Com! This game gets deeper and deeper into the eorld of LSN with evry new patch. Must see!
We'll play over the net, but later (Dreamland) -- by yPArAH
We stubled upon two interesting topics on the UFO: Aftermath forum. Both were started by the developers.
Number one is about multiplayer. Or, what's better to say, no multiplayer. It is difficult to make something like this with the current game system. Thus,ALTAR is planning to make a multiplayer add-on if the game is a success.
Number two considers strategy. Earth will host from 40 to 80 bases. Player will start with one and will capture (?) others later. Bases differ. Each base can act as a research center or a military stronghold. The more RCs you have, the faster the reseach and gadget making is conducted.
That's all (for now, on the topic), folks!
